Our dermatologically tested SPONTEX viscose sponges are made in Europe from renewable plant fibers sourced from certified
organic farms. Once placed in water, these compact pop-up sponges expand to their moist, ready-to-use state within seconds.
They are soft, supple, and gentle on the skin, causing no irritation. They are also highly hygienic, as they are machine washable
up to 60°C. Whether in the kitchen, bathroom, office, or workshop, our universal cleaning sponges are always a clean solution
and offer ample space for attractive, custom printing. At the same time, they contribute to a cleaner environment, as they are
made in the EU from renewable plant fibers and are completely biodegradable.
Its unique porosity provides a large surface area with an open-cell structure. Therefore, the natural cellulose sponge is able to
absorb 20 times its own dry weight in water and store it within its porous structure. The cellulose sponge will retain the liquid
until it reaches its full capacity. This property also applies to other liquids such as motor oil, kerosene, gasoline, and even dilute
acids (e.g., formic acid or nitric acid).
The sponge can be compressed and retains 100% of its properties. It only expands to its full size upon contact with water.
Compression can only be carried out when dry; when the material is damp, it is elastic.
The Spontex sponge is one of the most durable sponges on the market. Its tensile strength is regularly checked during production.
This is a significant advantage over cotton cloths, non-woven cloths, and paper towels.
For decades, the cleaning properties of Spontex cellulose sponges have been known worldwide. Their unique outer layer
makes the sponge firm and stable.
Our cellulose sponge material is 100% biodegradable.
Chemical analyses have shown good stability against various dilute acids and alkalis.
In a moist state, the electrical conductivity of natural cellulose sponges is excellent; this property is frequently used in electrotherapy.
Cellulose sponge material is flammable, although the degree of ignition can be varied by impregnating liquids. Thermographic
analyses of cellulose show that it begins to burn at temperatures above 300 °C.
Depending on the material, cellulose sponge can filter out some contaminants from gases and liquids.
Spontex sponge material can be sterilized by gamma radiation, autoclave or ETO gas.
Our cellulose sponge material is machine washable up to 95°C (printed up to 60°C) with detergents.
In compressed form, our cellulose sponges perfectly meet the requirements for storage and transport. They have a low volume
and require little space, offering fantastic properties in terms of low transport and storage costs.
